Apple has struck a deal with Amazon to remove competitor ads from iPhone, iPad, and MacBook product pages

Apple has struck a deal with Amazon to remove competitor ads from its product pages, according to a report by Insider.

The agreement cleans up search results and product pages for Apple devices, reducing the size of ads compared to competitors. Amazon also diminishes the quantity of ads at the top and bottom of search results but still displays competitors' products.

The deal aims to decrease the number of ads on Apple product pages and prevent competitive ads in search results. Apple's product pages appear relatively ad-free, blocking related or highly ranked product ads.

According to Insider's report, these ad-free pages trace back to a prior 2018 agreement between Apple and Amazon regarding Apple product sales on the platform.

Jeff Wilke, Amazon's former retail chief, indicates that this agreement meets Apple's desires to lessen competitive ads.

Apple confirms the deal with Amazon, but it's not explicitly clear whether Apple compensates Amazon for ad space or the amount paid. An electronic report suggests that Apple must purchase these placements or compensate Amazon for lost ad revenues.

Unwanted advertisements by Amazon on its platform are part of the allegations made by the Federal Trade Commission in an antitrust lawsuit against the company. They highlight its substantial ad revenues despite a decline in customer service quality.
